The bretteleben.de "Very Simple Image Gallery" Plugin for Joomla! 1.5 is a downgrade of the ingenious plugin "Simple Image Gallery" from Fotis Evangelou und George Chouliaras back to a "Web 1.0" gallery. The modified version comes without a lightbox, the plugin shows one large image, followed by thumbnails.

Why? Look, as stylish and usability-oriented the whole category of "Web 2.0" galleries may be, they have - from my point of view - a serious disadvantage. The hide the web page from the visitor. If you run ads on your site, this is a not-so-desired effect. You don´t care about search engine optimization, keywords, backlinks and so on to see your banners, skyscrapers, rectangles and link blocks disappear behind a black curtain - out of sight and unclickable.

The component Weblinks has been treated stepmotherly at bretteleben.de for a long time. I decided to change this and to integrate - according the main themes of the website - step by step my bookmarks into this section.

A simple slideshow-script, started onload or by link, the transition is fading, once started, the script runs nonstop.

Display

The script shows the given images in the selected DIV-container. It is started either automatically on page load or by the click on optional control-elements. On page load the script replaces the contents of the given DIV-container which gives you the opportunity to integrate a static picture or a notice (like: the slideshow requires JavaScript) thus providing a fallback for visitors with JavaScript disabled.

The "bretteleben.de Google Ad Manager Plugin" and the "bretteleben.de Google Ad Manager Module", both for Joomla 1.5, allow you to use the Google Ad Manager with Joomla. The plugin has to be installed and activated, it does the real work. Besides, it allows you to publish Ads, delivered by the Google Ad Manager within content items. The module allows to display Ads, delivered by the Google Ad Manager in module-positions.

The bretteleben.de "Simple Picture Slideshow" plugin for Joomla 1.5 is a - as the name says - simple plugin to display a slideshow in content items. The images get faded out, this effect works with current major browsers. You decide if the slideshow starts automatically on pageload or is started by clicking a link/button in the content item.

"scalable" is my private homepage as of 2001. It´s primary intention was to reproduce the funcionality of a former version (an image-gallery with scripts, a guestbook, content-pages) on condition of replacing Java-Applets with JavaScript and beeing - as the name says - "scalable".
