Das bretteleben.de "Simple Picture Slideshow" Plugin für Joomla 1.5 ist ein - wie der Name schon sagt - einfaches Plugin zur Darstellung einer Slideshow in einem Beitrag. Die Bilder werden überblendet, der Effekt funktioniert mit den gängigen Browsern. Die Slideshow wird wahlweise über einen Link/Button, oder aber automatisch mit dem Laden der Seite gestartet.

- unterstützte Bildformate .jpg, .png und .gif
- im Beitrag positionierbar (links, rechts, zentriert, float links, float rechts)
- beliebig viele Slideshows in einem Beitrag
- jede einzelne Slideshow beliebig konfigurierbar(Parameter Overrides)

Neu in Version 1.4.0:
- die Kontrollelemente können wahlweise links/rechts positioniert werden
ihre Reihenfolge ist frei wählbar
jedes einzelne Element kann angezeigt oder weggelassen werden
als Ergänzung kann ein Counter angezeigt werden
- die Bilder können alphabetisch auf- oder absteigend, nach Änderungsdatum auf- oder absteigend oder zufällig sortiert werden
- als ALT-Text angezeigt wird der Titel des Links falls Links aktiviert sind
sind keine Links aktiviert dann die Titelzeile der Captions (auch wenn diese nicht aktiviert sind!)
nur wenn es weder Link noch Caption gibt, wird der Dateiname (ohne Endung) verwendet

Hinweise zum Update:
Wer das Stylesheet besps.css modifiziert hat, sollte es vor einem Update sichern, da es überschrieben wird!

Einschränkungen/Vorschau
Das Feature Bilder per Script nachzuladen arbeitet derzeit im "fire&forget" Modus. Das bedeutet, es erfolgt beim Aufruf keine Kontrolle, ob das Dummybild wirklich bereits ersetzt wurde. Das wird ein Punkt sein, an dem Nachfolgeversionen anknüpfen.
Kompatibilität
Das Plugin ist unter Joomla 1.5.6 und 1.5.15 erfolgreich getestet, das Zusammenspiel mit den verschiedensten anderen Erweiterungen mag aber Probleme mit sich bringen.
Ich empfehle einen Testlauf vor dem Einsatz auf einer aktiven Seite und stehe für Fragen und Anregungen immer gerne zur Verfügung.

How can I create a Slideshow galley using the simple image gallery?

I don't know if this is possible with the "Simple Image Gallery" (by joomlaworks.gr), I know that it is (at the moment) not possible with the "Very Simple Image Gallery" (menu at the left) and to see how this plugin - the "Simple Picture Slideshow" - works, have a look at the page "Plugin Howto" (menu at the left).

I do however get a JS error picked up by Firebug on this line:
pnext.style.removeAttribute is not a function
try{pnext.style.removeAttribute("filter");} catch(err){}
It loads up fine, but when I click on any of the buttons, the error is returned.

I would like to use this slideshow on my website hompage, i use mambo cms version 4.5.4 and would like to know if it is possible to use it. I have downloaded the zip file above but in my administrator i dont know where to upload the plug in and what part of the zip file to upload as the mambo admimistrator doesnt correspond to the joomla one in the tutorial on this site. I hope you can help, it looks like a great plug in.

To be honest - I have no idea. I never used mambo. Asked to make a guess, I would say no because the plugin is 1.5 native and I suppose there are meanwhile a lot of differences between Joomla! and Mambo.

I love this plugin but I'm experiencing one problem. It seems to be making a thumbnail that appears in the slideshow all by itself. If I remove the thumbnail, it makes it all over again. Is there a conflict? I have RokStories running on the homepage.

As said, if RokStories causes the problem (the Simple Picture Slideshow does not generate thumbs), please check the support forum of the extension and/or the documentation if there is a possibility to exclude certain images from getting modified.

How Can I change the color of the image titel and text. And the backgroundcolor of the image titel and text?Because light gray background color and black textcolor is not good for my pictures in the slideshow.

Found the problem with the image not displaying: this extension conflicts with the EasyImageCaption plugin. Disabling EasyImageCaption causes Simple Picture Gallery to work as expected. I tried enabling both and changing the order of the plugins by moving Simple Picture Slideshow ahead of EasyImageCaption, but that did not work.
This is a major issue: we use EasyImageCaption extensively. Any chance that the two extensions can play nice together?

Perfect -- excluding the class in EasyImageCaption did the job! Now I can play around with some other options.
I never even looked at the exclusiions in EIC, so your hint not only made Simple Picture Slideshow work, but I also learned more about EIC. Thanks so much for your help.

This is my follow up :)
EasyImage Caption offers the possibility to exclude images within speciofic style classes. Try to exclude the class "besps_holder"

Installed the plugin, enabled with default plugin settings, inserted the code into an article, but an issue: whennthe article displays, the plugin finds the correct directory, takes an appropriate amount of time to load the image if it's a large one, leaves space for the image, displays the controls (and shows the correct number of images, e.g.e, on the first image shows "1/9" when there really are 9 images in the directory). The controls even work, e.g., if I hit the "next" (sideways arrow) button, the controls show that the next image should be there, e.g., 2/9. So everything seems perfect. But the space where the image should be is blank. No background color, regardless of how I set the background color in the plugin controls; no image. I tried it with a couple different directories to ensure that it wasn't just some bad images, but no luck.
Note that the article does *not* display the plugin code, i.e., the bracketed stuff.
I'm using Jommla 1.5.18 with the ja_purity template.
Any ideas?
I rally hope we can get this working because the plugin is a great approach and looks like exactly what I need!
