Die erste Galerie ist die Galerie wie in Beispiel 06 gezeigt. Die Höhe der Bilder wird limitiert, dadurch entsteht bereits ein ruhiger Gesamteindruck, den nur noch eines trübt: Die verschiedenen Formate der Thumbnails. Die nächste Galerie zeigt eine Alternative:
Die Änderung der zweiten Galerie gegenüber der ersten ist der Parameter "Crop thumbnails". Für die zweite Galerie ist er auf "crop" gesetzt.
Einstellungen im Konfigurationspanel des Plugins
Um die Galerien auf der Webseite so zu konfigurieren, werden im Konfigurationspanel des Plugins die folgenden Werte gesetzt:
- Gallery width: 430
- max. Image height:287
- Image quality: 90
- Align the gallery: Mitte
- Thumbnail width: 90
- Thumbnail height: 60
- Crop thumbnails: crop
- Image thumbnail quality: 80
- Space between thumbs: 5
- Thumbnails are shown: Justified - below the image
- Thumbnail Columns: 2
- Sort order: A-Z
- Use sets of size:

Code im Artikel
Um die Bilder im Ordner /images/stories/verysimple anzuzeigen, wird im Artikel an der gewünschten Stelle der folgende Code eingegeben:
{*vsig}verysimple{/vsig*} - (ohne die Sterne)
Overrides
Hat man im Konfigurationspanel andere Einstellungen als die oben angezeigten getroffen und möchte nur diese eine Galerie wie gezeigt konfigurieren, dann kann man den Code um Parameter Overrides (siehe Plugin Howto Code) erweitern. Die Einstellungen für die oben angezeigte Galerie sind:

Im Code auf der Seite werden nur die Parameter überschrieben, bei denen die gewünschte Einstellung von der im Konfigurationspanel abweicht. Zum Beispiel:
{*vsig}verysimple|width=430|align=1{/vsig*} - (ohne die Sterne)

ich bin ein absoluter Anfänger.... Warum sind bei meiner Gallerie die unteren Bilder nicht eng beieinander?
Bei mir kann ich auch nur diese Punkte bearbeiten, warum nicht mehr? Was mache ich falsch?

Vielleicht ist das Grundproblem das, dass Du nicht dieses Plugin, die "Very Simple Image Gallery" installiert hast, sondern ein anderes Galerie-Plugin von mir, die "CSS Gallery". Layout und Möglichkeiten der beiden Erweiterungen sind unterschiedlich.

ich möchte das Plugin für meine Startseite installieren. Geht das auch ohne Thumbs anzuzeigen und ohne Start oder andere Buttons ?
Also nur eine Slideshow die ausgewählte Bilder zeigt.

Nein, das geht schion alleine deshalb nicht, weil das Plugin keine Slideshow-Funkltionalität besitzt. Du findest allerdings im Menü links auf der Seite das "Simple Picture Slideshow" Plugin, das kann das. Und ist eine Slideshow. :)

I have a very weird thing going on here:
When I put 1 gallery on the page, the portrait picture extends to the full width so it distorts.
When I put 2 galleries on the same page, the gallery below works good, the one above doesn't. When I flip these 2 galleries, so that the one below is now above, again the gallery below works (while it didn;t work when it was in the above position).
Example:

You found the problem spot on! By disabling the smartload functionality, the portrait pictures keep their own size. Thanks man!

Please temporarily disable extensions that modify images/image-behavior(e.g. the extension that influences the loading of images "class="smartload") and check again.

1stly vsig is still my favorite image plugin, I was trying to find a gallery that can...
1. automatically change between images on main image with thumbs underneath that can also be clicked on.
2. if there were say 200 photos have a scrolling option beneath the Thumb images with a fixed amount of thumbs displayed eg. >> or 1. 2. 3
3. when clicking on the main image it will open in a lightbox with navigation
I know this is a lot but is this possible to do?

1.) I guess you mean a change of the main image when clicked - no, the click on the main image is reserved for the feature "Links"
2.) No, limiting thumbs per page is done by the feature "Sets".
3.) I guess about 50 out of the 57 gallery extensions listed in the category Photo Gallery at extensions.joomla.org at the moment are using modal windows (lightbox, shadowbox, ...). I initially forked this plugin from one of them to get rid of the ligthbox. I don't like modal windows and my two gallery extensions will stay "Web 1.0" galleries - without modal window. :)

Therefore the call to 'switchimg' does not work...

Check if there is a section of CSS for the gallery (look out for selectors containing "vsig"). If the CSS is there, you are either using an extension to remove JavaScript (probably meant for mootools.js and caption.js) from the head of the page that does it's job too good and filters every JavaScript, not only the two mentioned or there is a snippet in the head of the index.php of the template you are using, that does the same job. In both cases: Either deactivate this script or modify it to remove just the two JavaScripts it is meant for.
If there is no CSS for the Very Simple Image Gallery in the head of the page, maybe your template generally does not include Joomla! head data. This is a bad idea at all. If so - change this (jdoc:include type="head") or switch the template.

Hi Andreas,
I've just downloaded and tested your gallery plugin with a folder of jpeg and png images. After adding your code to an article and previewing the gallery I've now got 2 new folders within the images source folder I specified as shown below.
The problem is the png thumbs - as you can see they are blank...? Is this a bug or a problem with my install?

The link you posted is a link to an image on your PC and therefore does not work for me. Anyway, please try to open the original png files directly from your browsers addressbar (http://localhost/PATH_TO_IMAGE_FOLDER/IMAGE.PNG) to check if they can be shown at all. If they work fine, please provide one or two of them (either upload them anywhere or send them by email). I will have a look at them.

I confess, I haven't tried this up till now. At the least you will have to patch the script /plugins/content/vsig.php. Second you will have to check, if Joomla! creates files outside it's own root directory.
Up till now the plugin offers to set the image root to the Joomla! root or a folder within and I will keep this because I think it is the by far most common way the plugin will be configured. In addition, I personally prefer to keep the files that belong to a site within it's main folder.
