PROBLEM: Only the code {besps}folder{/besps*} is shown - usage in module position

If the frontend shows the code - {besps}folder{/besps*} (without asterisk) - instead of the slideshow, the first thing to do is to check if the plugin is activated. If it is and the problem persists, in most cases you are trying to display the slideshow on a module position instead of the context of the main content.
Not all extensions, that offer to display custom content on a module position, are supporting the whole functionality of the Joomla! framework and with it the functions the plugin needs to work properly.
Up till now two extensions are reported to offer the needed functionality:

One is the module "Module: Content with Plugins", listed at extensions.joomla.org under "News Display" > "Articles Embed".
The other is the module "Plugin in Module", listed at extensions.joomla.org under "Core Enhancements" > "Embed & Include".

If you have questions or suggestions, please use the comment-function.

If you use this extensions, please post a rating and a review at extensions.joomla.org. Furthermore I appreciate everyone, supporting me with a link back to www.bretteleben.de on his/her website. The extension itself does not produce any hidden links, eastereggs or whatever.

If you need additional features or customizations for your project that exceed the scope of support offered through the comments, you are invited to submit your requirements specification and the planned budget by email (menu item "Contact" in the menu at the top).

Several slideshows in the same article

Akil

Hello,

I would like to use in a single article several slideshows one below each other. Each has its source folder of images and captions. Everything works fine except the captions (besps_c). Only the caption of the last slideshow is taken into account and appears on the first slideshow.
Question: how to isolate the information for each slideshow ?
Thank you for your clarification.

Akil

Thanks

Hi Akil!

Make sure, that the code for the captions of the second slideshow has the first parameter set to "1", the code for the captions of the third slideshow to "2", and so on. This first parameter tells the plugin to which slideshow a caption belongs. The plugin numbers the slideshows, ordered by their occurrence in the article, starting with "0".

Sample:
{*besps}folder1{/besps*} ... slideshow 1
{*besps}folder2{/besps*} ... slideshow 2
{*besps}folder3{/besps*} ... slideshow 3
{*besps_c}0|pic01_folder1.jpg|myTitelA1|myTextA1{/besps_c*} ... a caption for the 1th slideshow
{*besps_c}0|pic02_folder1.jpg|myTitelA2|myTextA2{/besps_c*} ... a caption for the 1th slideshow
{*besps_c}1|pic01_folder2.jpg|myTitelB1|myTextB1{/besps_c*} ... a caption for the 2nd slideshow
{*besps_c}1|pic02_folder2.jpg|myTitelB2|myTextB2{/besps_c*} ... a caption for the 2nd slideshow {*besps_c}2|pic01_folder3.jpg|myTitelC1|myTextC1{/besps_c*} ... a caption for the 3rd slideshow
{*besps_c}2|pic02_folder3.jpg|myTitelC2|myTextC2{/besps_c*} ... a caption for the 3rd slideshow
... all without the asterisks

Each image from a gallery links to their own gallery

Hello again

Another question, I'm trying to make a gallery that each image links to another subgallery (same image serie that the first one).

image 1 of serie 1, redirects  to a full gallery  of serie 1
image 1 of serie 2, redirects  to a full gallery  of serie 2

i don't know if i express correctly.

Thanks.

Hi PAU!

The plugin creates a gallery within an article. Create 1 article with your main gallery and another article for every single sub-gallery, link to them from the main gallery and it will work fine.

Hi PAU!

To prevent the plugin from using the image file names as tooltips, set the parameter "Show Captions?" to "No" (if assume you are not using captions because in this case the title line of the captions is used as tooltip) and add the code for an empty default caption as a second line of code to the code for the slideshow.

Sample:
{*besps}whateverfolder{/besps*}
{*besps_c}0|||{/besps_c*} ... without the asterisks

Conflict with Mavik thumbnail

Andreas

I love the slideshow plugin. I have Joomla 1.7 on a localhost and I have Mavik for the photo enlargement in my articles. I can confirm that when I turn on the Slideshow the thumbnails  are no longer  clickable in my articles. Also the Slideshow article shows all the photos in the folder(no slideshow). The Slideshow is important and I can look for another way to do this but if you could help I would appreciate it. Thanks

William

Hi William!

You are right - thanks for reporting this. The two plugins don't play nicely together. The problem - I have to run further tests to put my finger at the reason.
In Joomla!1.5 it worked to move Mavik Thumbnails above the Simple Picture Slideshow (or any other image related plugin) in terms of sort order in the plugin manager to make sure they don't mix up or to exclude the CSS class of the second extension in the backend of Maviks Thumbnails but in J!1.7 there seem to be a problem with the plugin itself (PHP). I will check this out and report back as soon as I have found a solution but at the moment, I would suggest to use anotehr slideshow.

Is it possible to delay the start of a slideshow?
105 Monday, 14 November 2011 05:47
Heather

Hello Andreas,

Thank you for a wonderful plugin. I've used it to create a series of 3 slideshows side by side on the main page of a website. I was wondering if it is possible to delay the start of two of the slide shows. I would like them all to have the same amount viewing time, but to have the fade staggered about half a second in between. If I do this simply by placing .5 difference in view time, then the photos become out of sync after awhile.

I've got a test version of the page here:

Thanks

Hi Heather!

I'm sorry, but what you want to achieve is not possible with the plugin as is. The configuration you need for your scenario are three instances of the slideshow with identical settings but a different initial delay. And this initial delay would require an additional parameter not present in the plugin.

Margins beim Einbau der SPS
104 Saturday, 29 October 2011 07:40
Jens

Halllo,

Andreas
